If you read the reviews you can see that there has been a complete shift of attitude toward the school from when the new principal arrived after Mr. Brown was moved to another school. The new administration has ruined the school. Teachers are quitting, even deans and assistant principals have quit. Discipline is not followed through and the teachers' hands are tied. They receive no support. This principal acts like he's afraid of the students and doesn't even know them. OCPS better get their act together to do something about it. There are problems with thug behavior daily. Sadly my older children received a great education there, for the younger ones, it's too dangerous to send. I heard that the county thought one dean was writing too many referrals at SWMS and now they can only give time outs! Rediculous! Throw out the Principal and and control the students! There are some very good teachers left but their moral is low and they are under great pressure.

We moved to Dr Phillips with the expressed purpose of sending our children to A rated schoolS. We decided that the high prices area would be worth it to have our children in a great school district. This is not the case. Southwest buses in kids from other out of district areas for whatever reason and sadly it creates behavior problems and constant issues with fighting and police being called to the school. I have not personally had any issues arise with my son , however, I hear of fights and drama everyday . The principal does not have control of his school and something should be done to clean up the student body attitudes and behavior. The parents that pay the high Dr Phillips taxes deserve better for their children. There are a few teachers that also are not up to par at that school and should be removed or replaced. I plead to the school board to consider looking into the many problems that plague this school. It could be a great school with the right leadership and attention.

My son hated this school! He was bullied and they did nothing. His Audio Visual class instructor was mean and verbally put down the students in front of others. She did this on a regular basis. She even put them down in front of others after they had graduated and left to go to another school. Worst instructor ever! She should not be in charge of children. She doesn't care about their well being at all. I think she just likes to hurt felling. She thinks it's funny. What a sicko! She told his friends that they should reconsider their friendship. That is just so hurtful! As a parent I was glad I took him out of her class. I just wonder how many more people she has hurt. She should be fired! His math teacher was amazing though! She really cared about the students and she wanted to help them succeed!

Like I've been coming to this school for a month and its bad. Like there are fights EVERYDAY the teachers don't care about anything and we can skip class when ever. I love my friends there but the staff is rude and mean. The only reason I'm still there is because of my boyfriend and my close friends. Thank god I'm going to chain of the lakes next year!

Bullying and fighting goes on unabated at Southwest. Instructional staff is overwhelmed with behavior problems from disruptive, foul mouthed, disrespectful students. Administrative staff pushes problems "under the rug". School is dirty. Restrooms in service stations are cleaner! Do not send your child there is you care about their emotional and physical well being.

My son has not had a certified math teacher for most of this year. Last year, he was bullied and my emails were ignored. It is not place of safety or higher learning.

School has gone downhill since Mr. Brown left. He had a talent and that was 'connecting with the students.' They respected him. The administration in place struggles getting teachers and I can't say it's been a good experience. Many challenges need to be overcome at this school for me to recommend it.

This was the worst school my son has ever attended. From the atmosphere to the staff, we experienced many problems. My son has always been a good conduct, honor roll student. I would not recommend this school for anyone. I am a counselor and have seen many children here suffer great emotional problems, more than in other schools. My biggest concern about this school is that "my son lost his light here". We did eventually homeschool him the rest of the year. His next year at Chain of Lakes, he loved, and he truly loves Bishop Moore now.

As a parent who has had two daughters already go through Southwest and now have our third child there, you should think refully about your expectations for this school. Now that they are shipping kids in from less desireable areas of Orlando, the quality of experience is much worse. More fighjting, more challenges similar to a typical inner city school. If I wanted my kids in an inner city school, we would have lived in downtown Orlando, not Dr. Phillips.

My son started 6th grade at Southwest this year and I am pretty happy overall. No school is perfect, but I am definitely satisfied and I feel like he is getting a good education. There are some pretty awesome teachers and staff members at Southwest. There are also many programs and extracurricular activities for the students. I had the option to move to another location in Orlando (a nicer place) and I chose to stay put because the Middle School on that side of town is not nearly as good as Southwest....and I am very happy that I chose to stay.
